We have a video camera which can be used to film pupils ringing a bell. This has a slow motion and freeze frame facility. Just like playing a sport, where stance and style are important, improving ringers handling style and technique can improve striking. Not only can it be used for handling when the bell is up, but it is extremely useful when teaching ringing up and down.
The most important feature is the ability to play back in slow motion and freeze frame to see problems which are difficult for a beginner to pick out in real-time. Remember, the video alone cannot turn someone into a good handler. Whilst it helps identify a problem, it is still up to a tutor to help the pupil improve their technique.
