Getting there

Approaching on the A595 from either direction, make for Holmrook. From the South, take a right turn near to the petrol filling station before you get to Holmrook.

From the North, pass through Holmrook and look for the left turn near to the petrol station.

Follow this road until it straightens out into a long, with a marvellous view to Wasdale. Resist the temptation to race along to the end, but look out for the isolated buildings on your left and slow down! Turn left and follow the track which leads round to the north side of the church.

Not exactly a difficult place to find, but keep your eyes peeled for the buildings to your left on the straight!

Better still, visit the Irton Church Website which gives more detailed instructions.

If you are coming from Wasdale or Eskdale, or other minor routes, just trust to your map reading skills.

Parking

Plenty of space near the church, but the route is NOT recommended for large coaches.

L'al Ratty

The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway does have a station at 'Irton Road', but its best to get a friend to take your car/coach to there and pick you up. The nearest station the halt at Miteside a 1½ mile walk from the church.

Eating and Drinking

Definitely a good picnic spot or else a drive to Holmrook, Santon Bridge, Eskdale Green or Nether Wasdale.

Loos

None at the Church
