A Little History

This is one of the 40 sites dedicated to St. Cuthbert, as one of the resting places of the Saint's body after his death on Holy Island. The relics were carried around Strathclyde and Northumbria for about 7 years before being buried in Durham Cathedral. The present church dates from the 12th century and the tower from the 14th century.
